Descriptions are provided either in English or in French or in both of these languages.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-medium-font-size\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/diwan.hypotheses.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/diwan.hypotheses.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Diwan<\/strong><\/a>: Digitised printed and online manuscript catalogues listed by countries provided by Diwan (Association des doctorants en histoire des mondes musulmans m\u00e9di\u00e9vaux)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-medium-font-size\" id=\"tw-target-text\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">I<strong>nternet Archive<\/strong><\/a>:  A large number of printed catalogs of Arabic, Persian and other manuscripts, digitized from copies kept in the libraries of the United States and Canada. Search for example: \u2018Arabic manuscripts\u2019 and \u2018Texts\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-medium-font-size\" id=\"tw-target-text\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/al-furqan.com\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/al-furqan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Al-Furq\u0101n Islamic Heritage Foundation<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s Portal gateway to Islamic manuscripts builds upon the significant work already accomplished by the Foundation through its published catalogues. In this collection, users can currently browse and search more than 50,000 manuscript records from over 100 collections private and non private previously published by the Manuscript Centre. The new online platform facilitates the discovery of major \u2018hidden\u2019 Islamic manuscript collections. It covers materials from basic hand-lists to comprehensive descriptive catalogues, captured in such detail as incipit and explicit, quality of paper, ink, binding etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-medium-font-size\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.islamicpaintedpage.com\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.islamicpaintedpage.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Islamic Painted Page<\/a><\/strong> is a huge free online database of Islamic Arts of the book up to 1750 CE. It contains more than 24.000 detailed references from ober 273 collections worldwide and includes illuminations, decorated Qur&#8217;an pages and book bindings as well as paintings in manuscripts, albums and on single pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-5812c7aa\" class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion exclusive\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div>Bahrain<\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong>Beit al-Qur\u2019an<\/strong> is a private museum dedicated to Islamic art and to Quaranic<br>manuscripts (over 500) from different periods and geographic origins. For more<br>information see <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.aramcoworld.com\/issue\/200003\/beit.al.qur.an-religion.art.scholarship.htm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/archive.aramcoworld.com\/issue\/200003\/beit.al.qur.an-religion.art.scholarship.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an article published in Saudi Aramco World<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div>Bosnia Herzegovina<\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\">The basic collections of <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ghb.ba\/en\/muzej-knjige\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ghb.ba\/en\/muzej-knjige\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gazi H\u00fcsrev Bey\u2019s Library <\/a><\/strong>in Sarajevo consist of<br>manuscripts in Arabic, Turkish and Persian. They amount to 10,000 codices. The archives hold documents related to the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period of the Ottoman rule. It also has an important collection of 1,400 vakufnamas, and 86 sigils (court records and protocols) from the Sharia Court in Sarajevo. The records are mostly from Catalogue g\u00e9n\u00e9ral des manuscrits des biblioth\u00e8ques publiques de France whose publication began in the 19th century. Thus one may not find original characters or standardised transcritptions. Presently search by languages posts 372 items for Arabic, 201 for Hebrew, 68 for Persian, 53 for Ottoman Turkish and 8 for Armenian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ccfr.bnf.fr\/portailccfr\/jsp\/public\/index.jsp?success=%2Fjsp%2Fpublic%2Findex.jsp&amp;failure=%2Fjsp%2Fpublic%2Ffailure.jsp&amp;profile=public\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ccfr.bnf.fr\/portailccfr\/jsp\/public\/index.jsp?success=%2Fjsp%2Fpublic%2Findex.jsp&amp;failure=%2Fjsp%2Fpublic%2Ffailure.jsp&amp;profile=public\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CCFR (Catalogue Collectif de France)<\/a><\/strong> has a separate data base Catalogue g\u00e9n\u00e9ral des manuscrits including BnF Archives et manuscrits and R\u00e9pertoire des manuscrits litt\u00e9raires fran\u00e7ais du XXe si\u00e8cle (Palme). Search by language gives results for Arabic and Hebrew only among the Middle Eastern languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/archivesetmanuscrits.bnf.fr\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/archivesetmanuscrits.bnf.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\">Biblioth\u00e8que nationale de France<\/a><\/strong> has its own database BNF Archives et<br>manuscrits (BAM) with a search form, including the records of previously published catalogues for Arabic and Turkish where the transcription schemes vary.<br>Acquisitions made after the published catalogues are directly entered (including Persian), with original characters and standardised transliteration. Qalamos aims at providing the metadata and digitised copies of all manuscript collections kept in German libraries and so called memory institutions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div>Kuwait<\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\">The <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/trmkt.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/trmkt.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tareq Rajab Museum<\/a><\/strong> has a large and important collection of Al Qur\u2019an and manuscripts from all periods and countries (including NW China ) around the Islamic world. The museum possesses some fine examples of the writings of renowned calligraphers. The purpose of the collection is to illustrate something of the history and development of Islamic calligraphy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div>Spain<\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/manuscripta.csic.es\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/manuscripta.csic.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">Manuscript@CSIC<\/a><\/strong> presents the collections of manuscripts in Hebrew, Arabic, Aljamiado, Persian and Turkish conserved in the CSIC libraries, incorporating both its cataloging and digitization. The collection acquired as donations mainly from scholars such as Fuat Bayramo\u011flu (1912-1996) who served as a diplomat and was poet and author and \u015einasi Tekin (1933-2004) who was an acknowledged Turkish linguist professor and Turkologist.<br>Manuscripts have originally written in different languages; 359 of these works are in Turkish, 286 of them are in Arabic, 27 of these works are in Persian and the rest 12 are bilingual works (majmuas) in Persian-Arabic, or Arabic-Turkish. Sufism, especially Anatolian\/Ottoman Sufism (Bayrami, Melami and Mevlevi paths), Turkish literature, Islamic morality and ethics, Islamic law, Quranic works, fatwas, hadith constitute the main contents of the manuscripts. Among these books, there are many works written by the authors themselves, unique copies as the oldest manuscript in the collection dates back to 735 \/ 1335. Some of the manuscripts bear valuable contextual information on Anatolian Sufism and on the books, which they have reached through the family lines of their owners. Another characteristic group of materials is the works that are in the early Anatolian Turkish language and literature. The collection compromises a valuable source for especially in terms of language and cultural history studies. In addition to these, a printed catalog in Turkish, named \u201cKo\u00e7 \u00dcniversitesi Suna K\u0131ra\u00e7 K\u00fct\u00fcphanesi Yazmalar\u0131 Katalo\u011fu\u201d (Union Catalogue of Manuscripts), is also available to provide accessibility of bibliographic identities of manuscripts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sakipsabancimuzesi.org\/en\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.sakipsabancimuzesi.org\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Sak\u0131p Sabanc\u0131 Museum<\/a><\/strong> Collection of the Arts of the Book and Calligraphy<br>consists of illuminated Korans, prayer books, calligraphic compositions, albums and panels written by well-known calligraphers, illuminated official documents bearing the imperial cipher of the Ottoman sultans as well as calligrapher\u2019s tools, all produced during a period extending from the end of the 14th century to the 20th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\">For archival holdings, see the online free catalogue of <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.devletarsivleri.gov.tr\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.devletarsivleri.gov.tr\/\" target=\"_blank\">T.C. Printed holdings of the State Archives are available at the Documentation Database.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div>United Kingdom<\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fihrist.org.uk\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.fihrist.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">FIHRIST<\/a><\/strong> the union catalogue of manuscripts in Arabic script in the UK.<br>This catalogue provides a searchable interface to basic manuscript descriptions from some of the major manuscript collections in the UK, including Oxford and Cambridge Universities and the British Library. With the continuing contribution of manuscript records from UK libraries, Fihrist aims to become a union catalogue for manuscripts in Arabic script.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div>United States<\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/libguides.northwestern.edu\/arabic-manuscripts\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/libguides.northwestern.edu\/arabic-manuscripts\" target=\"_blank\">Arabic Manuscripts from West Africa: A Catalog of the Herskovits Library<br>Collection<\/a><\/strong> at Northwestern Universtiy. The Herskovits Library contains over 5.000 items and its website provides information about the catalog, which contains entries from four separate collections: <a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.northwestern.edu\/c.php?g=492192&amp;p=3369485#s-lib-ctab-10405558-0\">The Umar Falke Collection<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.northwestern.edu\/c.php?g=492192&amp;p=3369485#s-lib-ctab-10405558-1\">The John Paden Collection<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.northwestern.edu\/c.php?g=492192&amp;p=3369485#s-lib-ctab-10405558-2\">The John Hunwick Collection<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.northwestern.edu\/c.php?g=492192&amp;p=3369485#s-lib-ctab-10405558-3\">The University of Ghana Collection<\/a>, and access via NUsearch, Northwestern Library&#8217;s discovery search tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/oac.cdlib.org\/findaid\/ark:\/13030\/kt1b69q1vz\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/oac.cdlib.org\/findaid\/ark:\/13030\/kt1b69q1vz\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rudolf Gelpke\u2019s (1928-1972) collection of Arabic and Persian manuscripts at<br>UCLA<\/a><\/strong> The Islamic scholar\u2019s collection consists of 24 bound volumes (ca. 1447-1902)<br>whose subjects include astronomy and astrology, belles-lettres, grammar, history and theology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#efebeb\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/collections.libraries.rutgers.edu\/ebetharke\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/collections.libraries.rutgers.edu\/ebetharke\" target=\"_blank\">eBethArk\u00e9 digital library<\/a><\/strong> collected by Beth Mardutho, this is part of the \u201conline Syriac portal\u201d. Over 1500 items have been digitised (including manuscripts, printed books, archives, audio recordings) so far and more is expected to go online.
